Dr. Glenda Newell-Harris, the first physician to lead The Links, Incorporated, shared her passion for transforming our communities by "Building a Healthy Legacy: Our Prescription for The Future" with House Minority Leader, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi. Despite gains under the 2010 ACA, many Links fear that these gains may be derailed by the American Health Care Act (AHCA) which narrowly passed in the House on May 4, 2017. We are urging each Senator to reject this bill and support legislation designed to ensure greater access to health care and to help improve current healthcare laws. The Links also supports legislation that will expand Medicaid coverage to provide healthcare for Americans caught in the coverage gap. The Links, Incorporated opposes efforts to cut and cap Medicaid and risk health coverage of millions of African Americans and millions more Americans that will upend the healthcare system and increase premiums. Reckless disruption of the healthcare system without an adequate safety net is morally unconscionable. #linksinc
