The mission of the International Trends and Services facet is to expand the global platform for programs designed and developed to service the educational, health and cultural needs of people of African descent throughout the world. All programmatic components of the facet are delivered through measurable and sustainable service delivery methods that reach women and their families. The Global Linkage Delegation to Jamaica returned for its third year. We salute our Link sister, Civil Rights icon, Frankie Muse Freeman, Esq. for her tireless service to our national and global communities in the area of Justice and Equality. The Central Area Links, Incorporated wishes to express our deepest condolences of the passing of a charter member of The Gateway Chapter (MO) of The Links, Incorporated and Central Area Alumnae member, Link Frankie Muse Freeman, Esq. She passed away at the age of 101 on Friday, January 12, 2018. Mrs. Freeman was a longtime civil rights lawyer and activist. Her tireless efforts to end segregated housing and promote equal rights will be forever remembered. Mrs. Freeman was the lead attorney in the landmark court case Davis v. St. Louis Housing Authority, filed in federal court in 1952 that led to the end of racial segregation in public housing in St. Louis. In 1964, Mrs. Freeman became the first woman on the U.S. Civil Rights Commission, which investigates discrimination complaints, collects data on discrimination and advises the president and lawmakers on issues of discrimination and equal protection. Mrs. Freeman graduated from Hampton University with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and went on to attend Howard University School of Law, where she graduated second in her class. Link Frankie also served as the 14th National President of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated. Please keep the family of Link Freeman uplifted in prayer. Below are links that will provide a glimpse into the magnificent life of our sister.
